Welcome to Rikkenstorp.se!

Finngården Rikkenstorp is a well-preserved 1600-century farm with ancient cultivated landscape in the middle of author Dan Andersson's homeland, 2.5 south of Ludvika. On the high-altitude farm you can stay in modern equipped cabins or choose simplicity. The cottages are situated near the lake Lambitjärn where you can fish from a boat or take a sauna. A cultural path and longer wilderness trails starts from the farm and reach both vacant homesteads and live Finnish villages in the forest where all the four large predators, bear, wolverine, wolf and lynx nowadays resides permanently. Welcome, if you dare ...

The farm is cultivated organically and by sustainable principles. Depending on the season you can enjoy locally grown vegetables from the farm. The farm was first built in 1607 and was a few decades later owned by the family line called Rikkinen that gave the farm its name. Right up until the year 1940 the farm was cultivated by Finish families and around 1865 the farm had reached its maximum in size, with fields, meadows and pastures that are also used today. Many of these still have Finnish names Allapelto, Ylatorpet, Mansikka and Pikkubäcken!

The cottages at the lake have less than 100m to the water. There is an canoe and a wooden boat free to use. The larger house has thirteen beds in good quality, bathroom with WC, full kitchen and spectacular views of the lake where both black-throated diver, crane and beaver live together and are seen and heard!
The other cabins are simple standard electric, dry toilet, water by the wall and good kitchen equipment. The view over the lake Lambitjärn is outstanding. Firewood is included in the rent for all cabins.
Lots of other small fishing lakes are in close proximity, even within walking distance.

The farm also has an exhibit that depicts the people of the “finnmark”, their joys, sorrows and magic. Some depict Dan Andersson and his stories and his friends from the surrounding forests!

During the winter the farm is a safe bet for having lots of snow and was at one time in the 1600s called 'Luomimäki', which means “the snowy hill”! Here you can go of on skis and follow the wild animal tracks in untouched snow.

The nearest village with shops is Grängesberg 12km. Slalom/snowboard slope in Fjällberget, near Grängesberg and cross country skiing with prepared trails and parking can be found in Jungåsen, 10km.

Welcome to Finngården Rikkenstorp - the old Finnish farm that lives in the present!
